Babyshower Ideas setting the Date

Setting the date is the most important as well as perhaps the most difficult part of the planning. A baby shower usually takes place in the last three months of the pregnancy; however, some may choose to celebrate after the baby is born.

Having the shower after the baby is born allows guests to choose gifts specifically for the baby as the name and gender are already known. This is also a great time for many family and friends to visit the mother and meet the baby instead of individually visiting the mother and baby at home.

If the baby shower is to be held before the child is born, plan the shower approximately four to six weeks before the due date. It is better to have the party sooner rather than later.

At this time, it is also important to decide if this shower will be a surprise or not. If you are planning a surprise shower, take the time to talk to family members, as they will be key players in the planning. If there are friends and family coming from out of town, an evening through the week will not suit. Similarly, if there are people working in the daytime, a weekday afternoon will not work.

Contacting important guests especially those from out of town to discuss a date is a wonderful idea. Generally a weekend afternoon seems to be the most suitable and convenient time.

Coordinating a date that suits everyone is next to impossible so whether it is a surprise shower or a traditional one, the bottom line will be the expectant mother’s schedule which will decide the date and time that are best suited for her
